Dermot Kennedy is an Irish singer and song-writer you have probably heard this last year, with his album ¨Dermot Kennedy¨ released just this last January 2019, he has gained a lot of recognition from the public. Specially since his song ¨Moments Passed¨ was used in the popular show ¨So You Think You Can Dance¨, his audience has grown quite a lot and it seems like they think he deserves a lot more attention for his music.
His next album ¨Without Fear¨ is going to be released this next September 2019, but there are already a couple of singles out from this album that we can hear.
A personal favorite is ¨Lost¨ because it captures the essence of the artist so well since the beginning, just using his voice for the first 30 seconds of the track until we are finally introduced to any instrumental sound leading slowly to louder and clearer chords results into a feeling of trance.
Other than his soothing and very talented voice, Dermot K. provides the type of lyrics that can paint a story so vividly and define a feeling so clearly that as a listener you can't help but to immerse yourself completely into the mood of the song.
¨Outnumbered¨ is another great track of his new album, very characteristic of his musical style where there is a use of acoustic instruments blending nicely with electronic pads and never really overloading us with any sound or combination of sounds.
His music seems to always have a certain ¨blue mood¨ to it but somehow it manages to transmit an uplifting feeling at the same time.
So far the videos he has released contain visuals that really remind of bands such as X Ambassadors or The Fray which are also very close examples to his style, but Dermot Kennedy since to have less rock influences and a style that is more directed to pop in its ballad form.
